As a mum with a young family who has faced and survived breast cancer. I offer a very generous reduction in fees for anyone who is starting a feeding journey after breast cancer treatment. Or any breastfeeding mother who is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Feeding your baby should not be painful. Soreness when baby feeds can be a sign that something is not quite right. From sub-optimal position and attachment at the breast to a tongue tie, skilled support with breastfeeding can help to make feeding an enjoyable bonding experience where your baby gets all the nutrition and comfort they need.
Having a low milk supply or a baby that is not gaining weight as expected or who is unsettled and wanting to feed constantly can be really stressful.
Worrying you are not making enough milk for your baby can be really hard.
Exploring strategies to optimise the transfer of milk, evidence based feeding plans that aim to optimise milk supply and skilled assessment and support can provide substantial benefits for families facing these concerns.
In early parenthood everything about having a new baby can feel daunting. Breastfeeding is a new skill and it can take some getting used to. Responsive feeding (feeding when baby shows cues or when mum's breasts feel full) is advantageous for both but it is still easy to worry - Am I feeding enough? Why has my baby been cluster feeding? Is it normal for her to be awake all day? Combine that with the logistics of feeding baby out and about and sleep deprivation it is understandable that anxiety can occur. Things that get your oxytocin flowing such as cuddles with your baby and time with those you love can help. Talking it through with someone with time to listen can also be useful.
Baby coming on and off the breast at the start of the feed as they struggle to manage milk flow. Breasts that feel full even after feeding. Reflux symptoms and an unsettled baby. Strategies such as laid back feeding, one side per feed feeding and block nursing can be used to help.
Whether by choice or necessity, partial or exclusive, pumping can be challenging. Having a pump that works well for you, a well fitted flange, a schedule that's manageable and a technique that maximises the amount you express each time can all help.
Concerns about allergies, tandem feeding, weaning from the breast, reducing top-ups, and more. I am happy to offer kind empathetic support as you navigate feeding your little one.
